Migration to GRUB2 enables a graphical boot console, but most importantly
it enables usage of SFS as a default file system for AROS.
The well known AROS distribution VmwAROS changed its name to Icaros Desktop to
underline its primary goal of being a Live CD of a native distribution.
Icaros Desktop distribution uses Ken Lester's icons
for delivering more Amiga look and feel.
AROS MPlayer (based on MorphOS version) brings rich multimedia
experience to AROS, supporting numerous audio and video formats as
well as DVDs and network streaming.
Network Preferences enables user friendly configuration of AROS TCP stack.
Orygin Web Browser port brings the AROS user experience to the next
level. It supports the latest standards in HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Here is work in progress by Kalamatee: Conceptual GUI For W.I.P AROSTCP
configuration tool. It will let you choose/import/export a complete
network configuration. It also allows setting the environment variables
which affect AROSTCP.

AROS program catalogs were successfully localized to Russian by Sergey Mineychev
and some fonts were added (by kind permission from Michael Malyshev, ATO).
Here is our cool painting program by Hogne "M0ns00n" Titlestad,
Lunapaint v0.2.3 in progress. It has now Datatype loading.
This screen shows forthcoming GUI FTP client by voidstar aka suppah, taken from the last build.
Thanks to Michal Schulz AROS now has proper PCI support. This screenshot
shows PCITool in action, a program that lets you browse a list of all
PCI devices attached to your computer.
Adam Chodorowski took the time to build a nice set of PNG icons, based on the
Gnome "Gorilla" icon set, to show this new AROS feature off. You can also see
the new Wanderer Preferences program, which right now lets you just change the
backgrounds of the desktop and directory windows, but will later on allow to
customize other of Wanderer's features. Also notice that all fonts are anti-aliased.
Two instances of UAE running at the same time, showing both the Picasso96 and
the chipset emulation at work. UAE for AROS is a Zune application, its graphic
output and input handling is in effect done with the help of a custom class
made just for the occasion. A fully qualified GUI is in the works by Adam Chodorowski.
Zune is getting better and better! Now thanks to Georg Steger we have more
classes implemented, as you can see. You can also see gcc compiling one
of the test programs for the new implemented classes.
The UberPaint 4p bitmap drawing program, recently ported to AROS (which was
fairly easy as it uses SDL). As you can see, it's a Deluxe Paint clone. You
can also see the beautiful art that Adam Chodorowski has produced
with this program. ;-)
The About dialog was recently updated to show even more information, and not
only be extremely stunning. Also, you can see the nice ASCII logotype by
Jostein "Taxi" Klemmetsrud that is used when the image isn't available (for
example on the floppy).
An empirical experiment which investigates just how many programs you can
squeeze into an AROS screenshot. Quite many, as you can see...
Editing the Startup-Sequence using JanoEditor, which is currently the standard
AROS text editor.
Here is the FreeType Manager, which is used for installing and configuring
new TrueType fonts in the system. Not very user friendly, but you can fiddle
with every little detail. More important, it works. :-)
Here we have some new features in icon.library: highlighting of
selected icons, icon labels with an outline and default icons for
files with no icon.

LBreakout 2, a very nice breakout style game. Ported quite easily by
Fabio Alemagna since it uses SDL, which has already been ported earlier by
Gabriele Greco.
The Locale, Input, Serial and Font Preferences programs.
Always the same MUI test applications, plus a barebone Zune Preferences
editor and another little application, testing the layout engine. You can
see how Zune is improving!
Behold AROS in all its beauty: these three demos are running at the
same time, carefully supervised by Exec. From left to right,
"Flamme", "Knp" and "Firework" all show their stuff (the latter
demo being the latest addition to the AROS deck of magic cards).
Now you can also develop in AROS using the False programming language by Wouter van
Oortmerssen! The screenshot shows a False program displaying all primes between 0 and
100 (backwards), with the source code just above. Nice and readable, eh? ;-)
Doing some development in AROS using XDME and Python. The Python program that is
being edited can be seen in action, drawing a simple AROS logo in a window using the
IntuitionLibrary module.
A session with the interactive Python interpreter, using it to list the contents
of some directories and to read from a text file.
The first Preferences program is finished: Locale. The languages and countries you
see in the image are all implemented in AROS. The GUI strings in the image are
in German to show that locale.library and catalogs are working.

Finally kissed topaz 8 good bye. Shows also an irregular shaped window.
Clicking in the transparent areas goes through to the windows below. The
boot shell window shows that windows can now be dragged off the screen.
There is also the menu of the file requester window visible
Shows WiMP, a window manipulation tool, plus two games from Aminet
which were already ported long time ago.
... and running (it doesn't do much, yet. It just runs
SAD, the serial debugger and waits for input).
